Considered to be the best CMC thumb brace for arthritis in the CMC joint, which stabilises the base of the thumb without restricting hand movement, the Push Braces CMC Ortho Thumb Brace which is also sold in the USA as the Push MetaGrip CMC, supports the CMC-1 joint to reduce pain from arthritis and instability while still allowing everyday function.
The CMC brace removes the need for custom made orthotics to stabilise the CMC-1 thumb joint by its pre-formed flexible plastic enclosure. The enclosure envelopes the base of the thumb and the bracing effect is created with an arc of aluminium following the contours of the lower aspect of the thumb embedded in the plastic. The aluminium splint can be manipulated for individual thumb contours and optimal stabilisation of the joint.
The brace is completed by fastening the two Velcro straps around the back of the hand which allows the brace to be easily fitted by the individual. The material and rounded edges allows for maximum comfort and is antimicrobial, can be used in water and can be dried easily.
Thumb arthritis is extremely common with one in every four or five people in Europe suffering from this form of thumb joint pain. It is considered as wear and tear of the articular cartilage and it particularly affects people between the ages 40 and 60. Arthritis of the joint at the base of the thumb, with weakened ligaments, results in functional instability.

Very good for stabilising thumb but … Have to loosen straps ( or remove altogether) after a while because of discomfort caused when hand is flexed laterally - and the plastic on opposite side to the thumb repeatedly digs into the wrist … making it sore (see photos)

My physio recommended these to support my thumb joints at the wrist because they are painful due to age-related cartilage degradation. I'm active, and using my hands has become a painful challenge. The splints arrived quickly, with easy instructions and easy to fit. The left one fits well; the right one is slightly tight, which I will adapt to fit. They are well made. I've got them soaked on a number of occasions - they dry out quickly with no damage. They provide great support and put my thumb in the right place for recovery, and I can play golf because they encourage a better grip in the fingers and not in the palm!

It feels good but I find the straps a bit itchy. Wearing it too often makes my thumb feel worse without it.

Order and arrived quickly, right and left hand. Left fits very well. Right needs trimming to avoid tight contact with my skin. Able to play golf with the left splint on. Definitely helps with manual working by providing stability and reduced pain. A good addition to my rehab plan fir worn out thumb joints.

After breaking my wrist, my thumb was extremely sore and showing no sign of easing of pain. The hospital consultant gave the details of your thumb brace and I’ve found it to be “a game changer”. It allowed me to be able to use my hand without the awful pain. After using the brace for about ten days I noticed that my thumb pain had settled enough for me to be able to take the brace off for longer spells. I still need the brace when driving. The only downside is it makes my hand sweat and I have to remove it then. I find this brace to have given me some semblance of a normal life again

I had a great experience buying my Push Ortho thumb splints from Vivomed. I messed up and put my old address in and the team was super helpful and kind. Shipping was fast and they had the best price around! I couldnt recommend it enough. As to the product itself, I have hEDS and my thumbs tend to collapse when I grip, this splint makes a huge difference. It is comfortable, a lot more than a knock-off from amazon that I tried previously. I fall right at the edge of sizing, I went for the smaller one and it fits perfectly.

Supports the joint effectively and easy to wear. Love the fact it can be washed, so easy to maintain hygiene of hands. As a lady, I would prefer it came in a flesh colour rather than grey, so it didn’t draw attention to the hand so much and blended in more. The aesthetics prevents me wearing it at times e.g. going out to dinner with friends. Thumb joint has become painful as it adjusts to the support, but I am assuming it will ease over time.
