The Push Braces Ortho AFO Ankle Foot Orthosis offers excellent support in the case of loss of ability to lift the foot and problems in controlling the foot when walking. The brace was designed to allow for a natural gait and makes safe and efficient walking possible again, one of a range of excellent ankle braces in the Push Braces range.
The Push AFO lifts the foot during the swing phase, controls the plantar flexion post heel strike and then allows unimpeded rolling of the foot. Also, the orthosis offers lateral stability to the ankle joint.
The brace provides adjustable elastic straps which allows the degree of dynamic foot lift during the swing phase to be determined based on the individual needs of the user. On heel strike, the limiting function of the elastic straps ensures a well-controlled plantar flexion. During the stance phase, the brace allows flexion and extension in the ankle joint and allows the (remaining) function of the calf muscles to be focused on during the rolling of the foot. The outcome is an efficient and natural gait.
Where normally the shoe allows for fixation of the orthosis around the foot, the Push Braces Ortho AFO Ankle Foot Orthosis has its own fixing strap system. The unique design allows the brace to be worn with light footwear such as indoors in slippers.
When to use -
- Loss of control of the ankle dorsiflexors during swing phase and during loading response (heel strike/foot flat), possibly with ankle instability
- Disorders possibly involving loss of the function of the ankle dorsiflexors are: CVA, hernia, multiple sclerosis, postpolio syndrome, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injury, polyneuropathy

IMPORTANT
- The efficient use of Push AFO depends on the correct diagnosis.
- Always check first with a specialist before using a orthosis.
- Push braces were designed to be worn on an undamaged skin. Damaged skin must first be
- covered with suitable material.
- In the case of poor blood circulation in the limbs, an orthosis may cause hyperaemia.
- Avoid applying the orthosis too tightly in the beginning.
- Optimal functioning can only be achieved by selecting the right size. Therefore, fit your orthosis
- before purchasing, to check its size. Your reseller’s professional staff will explain the best way to fit
- your orthosis. We recommend that you keep this product information in a safe place, to be able to
- consult it for fitting instructions whenever needed.
- Check your Push orthosis each time before using for signs of wear or ageing of parts or seams.
- Optimal performance of your Push orthosis can only be guaranteed if the product is fully intact.
- To promote the useful life of the orthosis, it should not be exposed to temperatures above 70 oC.
- The use of a rigid orthosis within a shoe may cause accelerated wear of the inside of the shoe.
- To make it easier to get into the shoe, the Push AFO has a smooth surface, also at the sole of the
- foot. To prevent slipping, the orthosis should be worn inside a shoe/shower sandal/slipper.
- The Push AFO should be worn over a sock and inside a shoe/shower sandal/slipper
